About Us

Our HistoryFrom humble beginings in 1982 , founding partners Armstrong and Johnston had vision to become the most highly qualified and sought after in-ground tank specialists and forecourt contractors in New Zealand. Ten years on the vision had grown and caught the interest of longtime oil field contractor Brian McGovern who joined the company as a director and helped to reform the now Armstrong and McGovern Limited. Now with a multi-million dollar turnover and an enviable asset list, the experience and enthusiasm of Richard Armstrong and Brian McGovern can credibly claim to have achieved the original vision and still strive to maintain thier reputation.Our Philosophyconsectetuer adipiscing elit. Our Team

Richard Armsrtong: Director

Richard Armstrong: One of the original company founders, Richard is a certified fitter and welder and ultra experienced installer who has now tallied up over 30 years experience working directly in the oil and fuel industry. Richards energetic style and commitment to getting the job done gives Armstrong and McGovern the drive required to compete in the competitive world of oil installation contracting.

Brian McGovern: Director

Brian McGovern: Brians involvement in the oil exploration inductry spans over 30 years and has seen him holding positions in the North sea, Europe, Asia, and most recently New Zealand. Brian became a director of Armstrong and McGovern in 1992. Brian's business commitment and attention to detail has enabled Armstrong and McGovern to maintain a high level of service to its clients and become a leader in the forecourt contracting industry in New Zealand.

David Key: Electrical Project Manager

Armstrong and McGovern have recently added David Key to the team to manage a new electrical division. David has been involved with the electrical installation of forecourt systems for over 20 years. His qualifications and experience bring a high level of expertise to Armstrong and McGovern which will add a new dimension and direction to the services Armstrong and McGovern can supply.

Marketing CivilDrainage:Armstrong and McGovern have a full time drainlayer on the team and have experience in all draining systems including fuel industry inteceptors and filter installationsCivil:As part of our Main Contractor role in service station rebuilds and upgrades our Civil credentials include slotted drain installations, kerbing, roading, driveways, concrete laying and ashphalting.Construction:From underground installations to ground level work and up, Armstrong and McGovern can complete any building and canopy upgrades necessary onsite, including electrical and security components.

Business Analysis Forecourt InstallationsWe specialise in the installation and removal of underground fuel tanks. Armstrong and McGovern are fully conversant and compliant with regulations pertaining to the disposal and handling of dangherous goods. We are responsible for and will remove and dispose of contaminated soils and liquids. We will facilitate the installation and/or removal of pipework including fibreglass , steel and all flexible pipe currently available including secondary containment.Armstrong and McGovern have completed and reached certification for :Mobil Tank CleaningShell and Mobil Work Permit and SafetyOil industry training coursesTraining on installing different products from suppliersApproved installers or Ameron, Smith, U.P.P. Environ, APT, Durapipe, Green Tank, Maskell ProductsArmstrong and McGovern have managed and co-ordinated many major projects for Caltex, BP, Shell, Mobil, Gull, G.A.S. Foodstuffs and privately owned installations. Although our expertise is in the oil industry, our services can be utilized for any underground tank installations and have been recently used by WaterCare for installations in both the Manukau City and Council and the Tauranga City council.EXCASAFE is Armstrong and McGoverns patented sheet piling system, The creation of EXASAFE was to provide a very safe system for deep ground excavations and installations which also provides a unique level of flexibility demanded by our clients in their projects. Along with increased project flexibity, EXCASAFE ensures an unbeatable level of safety and security for each project over conventional methods.

Brian McGovern has displayed a proven track record of successful circuit racing in New Zealand over the last 7 years with two NZ Bridgestone Porsche Championships under his belt.His current car, a Porsche 944 Turbo S Modified was built into a race car from scratch by Brian who has done most of the work himself along with Turbo assistance from Lodge Auto Centre and has developed it into the reliable, quick and well balanced race car that it is today.Endurance racing with Greg Taylor in the North Island Endurance Series lead firstly to Greg asking Brian to be the Kiwi Team Nurburgring Manager in 2006 and each year since and in 2007 a coveted and podium finishing drive in KTNs Honda Civic Type R. That first drive has lead to more successful drives in the super reliable Hondas and another chance to return to the Ring in 2010.Brian is a Managing Director of Armstrong and McGovern. A company that undertakes Fuel Storage and Pipework upgrades at Service Stations around the North Island and when not motor racing keeps active with regular surfing in NZ and abroad

2011 results

June 27th, 2011 We are proud to say both Honda's skillfully finished the long 24hr Nurburgring race.Car 248 came in 1st in class N2, and car 247 was 2nd!!We're very proud of the whole team, and will be celebrating this evening.Thanks for all your support over facebook and emails etc back home, it was greatly appreciated!!
